Arches National Park and Digital Workflow
Arches. Canyonlands. For nature photographers these names conjure images of fantastical shapes and magical light, of mysterious landscapes and dramatic scenery.
Arches and Canyonlands are two of the premier National Parks for the landscape photographer. Here’s a chance
to fill your portfolio with icons of the American Southwest: Landscape Arch, Delicate Arch, Balanced Rock, and Mesa Arch, to name just a few. The area is so diverse that we certainly won’t run out of subjects.
As light is often the key to great landscape photos, we’ll be spending much of our time at the edge of light during the minutes surrounding sunrise and sunset. And during the time before the light starts getting really good, we’ll help you fine tune your compositions, we’ll demonstrate landscape techniques such as hyperfocal focusing, and we’ll show you how to use graduated neutral density filters or to expose your images for later blending in the computer. We can also show you how to set up for a stitched panoramas and much more. We’ll also offer some of our time tested suggestions to help improve photographic quality as well as show you some tricks in the field to help make your tripod more user-friendly.
